The Relay Expansion enables your Omega to control two other, independent electrical circuits. The circuits are isolated from the Omega and can operate at much higher or lower voltages than the Omega. So you can control other circuits you’ve built or small household appliances rated up to 60W. This Expansion is perfect for home automation projects since it gives you the ability to control other devices remotely using your Omega.
It features two electromechanical relays that can switch up to 60W, and are rated for a maximum current of 2A and a maximum voltage of 220V DC or 250V AC. The screw terminals allow you to connect a variety of different cables, leads, and wires. This expansion comes with a 3-bit address switch, allowing you to use up to eight relays with a single Omega. Meaning you can control up to 16 devices with just one Omega!
Note: This Expansion requires a Dock with an Expansion Header to use, such as the Expansion Dock, Power Dock, or Arduino Dock R2.
Important Warning: If using this Expansion with circuits or appliances that run on household or industrial mains voltage, make sure you fully understand how to work with them safely. Improper preparation such as insufficient insulation, wiring errors, or using wire not rated for your application could result in serious damage not limited to injury or fire. We at Onion do not accept any responsibility for any damages caused by improper use of this product, so make sure you know what you’re doing!
